CASHMERE

There's a reason cashmere has been treasured for centuries—the moment you experience true quality, you understand the difference. Sourced from the soft undercoat of cashmere goats roaming the windswept plains of Mongolia, this extraordinary fibre offers unparalleled warmth without weight, luxury without ostentation.

At LIYA Antwerp, we believe in transparency throughout every step of our process. Our

fibers are originating from Mongolia. Produced in a socially responsible manner free of animal cruelty and certified sustainable by international actors.

That's why we source exclusively A-Grade cashmere from vertical mills prefeabely from Mongolia and Italy—trusted partners who maintain complete oversight from fiber selection to finished yarn. These fully integrated facilities ensure the meticulous quality control that Grade A cashmere demands, with fibers measuring under 14 microns in diameter for exceptional softness and longevity.

Understanding cashmere quality means recognizing that the finest pieces improve with time. Our A-Grade cashmere becomes softer and more beautiful with each wear, developing that coveted lived-in luxury that speaks to true craftsmanship. Naturally hypoallergenic and remarkably durable, these pieces are designed to age gracefully alongside the discerning women who choose them.

This is cashmere as it should be—an investment in enduring quality, thoughtful sourcing, and the kind of quiet confidence that comes from wearing something truly exceptional.

RESPONSIBLE WOOL

We certify the majority of our Italian merino wool trousers and blazers using the Responsible wool Standard. RWS certifies that our wool comes from animals that are well treated, from land that is well managed, mitigating damage to soil and improving biodiversity and that all people handling the wool are treated fairly and paid a fair living wage.

BIODEGRADABLE BUTTONS

Corozo Nut - Most buttons in the fashion industry are made from non-biodegradable plastic. We have found Corozo to be the most sustainable button material. Corozo is a plant-based material, derived from the seed or nut of the tagua palm tree in Central America. They are often called “vegetable ivory” since they are extremely hard and durable and mimic the appearance of animal ivory with a beautiful texture and natural looking finish. In addition, purchasing Corozo based products also helps prevent deforestation by protecting and regenerating forests while also supporting communities that gather these nuts. Urea - Urea buttons are a sustainable plant-based alternative to traditional horn buttons, crafted from potato starch. They offer the same smooth, polished finish as horn and are fully biodegradable, breaking down naturally at the end of their lifecycle. Troca Shell - Crafted from responsibly sourced Trocas shell, our Trocas buttons are a biodegradable and sustainable choice. Known for their luminous, natural finish, Trocas buttons offer a refined alternative to synthetic materials.

EMBRACING CRAFT

In addition to considering how to make our material choices less harmful to the environment, we are also working to protect centuries old crafts, in an effort to ensure certain skills and techniques are not lost. Some of these crafts include handmade knitwear and crochet from a collective of female artisans in Portugal and Antwerp. These efforts are not only extremely enjoyable for us to work on as a team and with our friends and networks, they also give us a sense of purpose as we try to preserve old traditions, crafts and art forms at risk of being lost for future generations.
